Am I practicing medicine / law by reviewing these documents?
No. ExpertSigned is a document preparation service. You are reviewing a structured draft against your professional standards and approving it — the same way a physician reviews a nurse's documentation or an attorney reviews a paralegal's draft. You are not creating a patient relationship or attorney-client relationship with the end client. We recommend reviewing this with your malpractice carrier before starting, and we provide a reviewer agreement that clearly defines the scope.
What does the review process actually look like?
You log in to your reviewer dashboard and see a queue of assigned documents. Each one shows the AI-drafted document alongside the client's intake data. You read the draft, verify it's accurate and appropriate, make any edits, and click Approve. Your digital signature is applied. The whole process typically takes 2–8 minutes depending on document type.
How do I get paid?
Earnings accumulate in your reviewer dashboard in real time. We process weekly ACH direct deposits every Friday for the prior week's approved reviews. There's no minimum payout threshold. You'll receive a 1099-NEC at year end for tax purposes.
What if I disagree with the AI draft?
You can edit any part of the document before approving. If the draft is substantially wrong or requires more information from the client, you can flag it for revision — the document goes back to the client for additional input. You are never required to approve a document you're not comfortable with.
Do I need malpractice insurance?
We strongly recommend that all reviewers maintain active professional liability / malpractice coverage. Most reviewers already carry this as part of their existing practice. We do not provide coverage on your behalf. Our reviewer agreement defines the scope of your role clearly, which most carriers will want to review.
I'm a CFP — do I need to be licensed in specific states?
No. The CFP® certification is nationally standardized. A single active CFP certification allows you to review financial plans for clients in all 50 states. This is one of the biggest advantages of the CFP role — you don't need a state-specific roster like our attorney reviewers do.
How many documents can I review per week?
There's no minimum or maximum. You set your own availability in the dashboard and we route documents accordingly. During onboarding, we start you with 20 test documents to calibrate quality. After that, volume scales with your availability and approval rate.
What happens if I'm unavailable for a period?
You can pause your availability in the dashboard at any time — no notice required. Documents will stop routing to you until you re-enable. There's no penalty for taking time off.
